The "5 a day" Association is holding its 17th "5 a day" Professional Conference under the motto "Transforming the consumption of the future: health, fruit and vegetables". The event will take place in Madrid, on March 7 at 9:30 a.m., at the Mercamadrid Administrative Center. All sectors of the agri-food sector are invited to a day full of knowledge, networking and new opportunities.

Organized by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development of the Andalusian Government in collaboration with Fresón de Palos , the Demofarm demonstration day on "Demonstration and dissemination of tools for digital transformation in strawberries" will take place on March 6 at the Andalusian Cooperative Society Santa María de La Rábida, Fresón de Palos. Once again, the fruit conference will be held, focusing on sustainable apple production and featuring presentations by leading international experts in the sector. The talks will cover key aspects such as the role of chill hours, the latest innovations in plant material, improving fruit quality and control strategies for Halyomorpha halys and Glomerella. This is a relevant opportunity to acquire advanced knowledge and share experiences with other professionals in the sector. Part of the information corresponds to the demonstration activity “ClimaFruit: Effects of climate change on apple and pear cultivation in Catalonia throughout the 21st century”, an activity co-financed by the EU through intervention 7201 of PEPAC 2023-2027. On December 10, 2024, at the University of Huelva, the HIDRONUT_SAT Operational Group (GO) “Application of high-resolution satellite images from the Copernicus program in the management of nutrition and irrigation in citrus crops” will present its objectives and progress during the ATTENTIA project Dissemination Day. This meeting will feature the researcher from the University of Huelva, Alberto Zabalo and Carlos Chacón, from the Department of Field – PRL – García Carrión 1.890 SL, members of the HIDRONUT Operational Group , to bring together objectives and advances deployed in this initiative. It should be noted that through this innovative initiative, the Andalusian citrus sector will have access to new digital tools to optimize water and nutrient management, and improve decision-making for the economic and environmental sustainability of producers and industry, improving traceability and transparency in transactions between the links in the production chain. GO HIDRONUT is formed by García Carrión 1890 and the Campus of International Excellence in Agro-Food Consortium (ceiA3) together with the research group ' Integrated management of agricultural and natural resources | AGR-227 ' of the University of Huelva, with the collaboration of the Association for Rural Development of Western Andévalo-Adrao. Technical Conference "Results obtained in the study of fertigation in strawberry, raspberry and blueberry crops. Campaign 23/24" (IFAPA Huelva, November 28, 2024) in which the book " Strawberry varieties in Huelva: a century of history (1923-2023)" will also be presented.

On October 29, the Demofarm technical conference will be held in Andalusia, focusing on "Digital transformation tools in citrus." The event will offer participants a practical overview of the latest technologies applied to citrus cultivation , with a guided tour of Finca Mogollón , where innovative monitoring and sensor solutions have been implemented to optimize water management and pest control. Digital tools for citrus cultivation Technologies to be presented include irrigation network monitoring, digital traps for the detection of Ceratitis Capitata , soil and plant sensors, and the use of satellite imaging platforms . The Demofarm Andalucía technical team, together with Tragsatec , will guide attendees throughout the day, explaining how these tools work and their benefits for more efficient management of farms. The day will end with an assessment of the implementation of these technologies by Daniel Esquivel, a technician at CRESCASA's Finca Mogollón, who will share his experience in the digitalization of citrus cultivation. On October 4th, at 9:30 am, the DiH Datalife Hub will organize a day together with Kiwi Atlántico to present its digital fruit demonstrator , implemented within the framework of the HIBA+ project . The purpose of this event is to present, at a sector level, an advanced experimental solution for monitoring and managing a kiwi fruit farm in Galicia, which could be applied to other fruit and even vegetable crops. The field day will take place at the farm located in Bonaval – Burgueira , while the talk and lunch will take place at the Nueva Colina – Tomiño hotel. In addition to the presentation of the center and the project, there will be a guided tour of the facilities , where the implemented technology can be observed in operation . The DIH DATAlife Hub is an initiative developed within the framework of the Galician Strategy for Digital Innovation Hubs, promoted by the Xunta de Galicia through the Ministry of Economy, Employment and Industry. With the aim of helping to find alternative crops to the vine, which is predominant in La Rioja, Servicios Agrarios Riojanos recently started a new demonstration field in which it has planted hazelnut and almond trees, both in super-intensive cultivation, in late and extra-late flowering varieties.
