The AF4EU (Agroforestry for Europe) project will hold its final events on November 10 and 11, 2025 in Brussels , with two days that will mark the closing of this ambitious European project dedicated to promoting agroforestry as a key tool for agricultural sustainability, rural innovation and climate adaptation.

Both meetings, organized in a hybrid format, will offer a space for dialogue between researchers, advisors, policymakers and representatives of the agri-food sector , with the aim of strengthening agroforestry business models , improving agricultural advisory services and promoting the integration of agroforestry into European Union policies .

Event " Integrating Agroforestry Innovations into EU Policy"

This parliamentary session, organized in collaboration with MEP Nicolás González Casares , will bring together policymakers, researchers and international experts to discuss how innovations in agroforestry can be effectively integrated into European agricultural and environmental policies.

The debate will focus on the contribution of agroforestry to major European objectives: the European Green Deal , the Farm to Fork strategy and the EU's climate change adaptation plans .

The event “Integrating Agroforestry Innovations into EU Policy,” held at the European Parliament , will focus on how agroforestry innovations can be effectively integrated into the European Union’s agricultural and environmental policies . MEP Nicolás González Casares will highlight the strategic role of agroforestry in the European ecological and climate transition , and Elaine Springgay (FAO) will present the latest developments in training and global monitoring of these sustainable practices. Professor María Rosa Mosquera-Losada (USC) will address how technical knowledge and political support can strengthen farmers’ position in the value chain . The event will conclude with a discussion and networking session, reaffirming Europe’s commitment to a more resilient, inclusive agriculture based on agroforestry innovation .

Both AF4EU project events represent an exceptional opportunity to consolidate European networks of advice, research and agroforestry practice , as well as to discuss the role of the agricultural advisor as a catalyst for the green transition .
