Description

We requested this project to continue our educational journey, as our school has been offering Erasmus+ mobility programs for several years, and we wanted to continue offering the Erasmus program to our new students. We are very clear about the benefits this type of project brings to students, faculty, and our school in general.

Description of activities

To begin, the project was presented to members of the Agricultural Activities Department, teachers, and students from the various training cycles. Several meetings were held with the different groups to inform them about the project and introduce them to the various partners. Participants were selected from among the interested students. A selection committee was formed, taking into account English proficiency and course grades. In 2021, a short student mobility program was held at a Polish farm school, Agro-turistika Brzoza, with eight participants. Between March and June 2022, a long-term mobility program was held in Slovenia, at the GRM Novo Mesto center, and in December 2022, the last short-term mobility program was held in Poland, at the same farm school. The results of each activity have been disseminated.

Objectives

Offer short- and long-term business training in Europe, managed by the center itself. Provide long-term mobility opportunities in forestry companies to enhance the professional skills of participating students. Improve participants' language skills. Gain maturity and personal development in a location outside their own country. Learn about other agricultural and forestry production systems, using new machinery and environmental education centers. Increase participants' employability. Improve the atmosphere of coexistence among participants. Build a positive image for the center with international reach.

Results

We carried out the first long-term student mobility program in Slovenia. At this Slovenian center, we gained a new partner with the profile we demand in the forestry sector. We reduced the dropout rate in basic and intermediate vocational training, making the training program more attractive. We improved the language and communication skills of participating students. In English classes, they worked on the most common communication skills on this type of trip and also had the opportunity to practice a foreign language. European values were promoted by traveling to European Union countries (Slovenia and Poland) that use the common currency (Slovenia), and they realized that we are part of the common European project and that we can manage our work there with the same currency. Students' independence and adaptation to new challenges have improved.
