Description

The "PEGASUS" project, developed under the ERASMUS+ program, will focus on two activities: student mobility for internships in companies abroad, and staff mobility for job shadowing. The EFA Galicia Federation, located at Puente de San Lázaro 11A-1ºD, 15703 Santiago de Compostela, A Coruña (Spain), will be the organizing center and sending partner. The internship will take place in Bourgogne (France), with the participation of a receiving partner from Maison Familiale Rurale de Villevallier, Rue Verdeau 25, 89330 Villevallier.

The project, in Activity A1, is aimed at CFGM students in Agricultural Production, aged between 16 and 20, who already have theoretical and practical knowledge of rural activities and the content they will explore in depth in this project. Fifteen of the 16 students, most of them children of farmers, and one tutor, due to the fact that some students are under 18. None of them have mobility or other problems that would prevent them from enjoying a completely normal stay.

In Activity A2, the project targets a participant who will undertake job shadowing mobility. The participant will be a vocational training teacher and will simultaneously participate in student internship mobility activities.

Description of activities
  • Activity A1: Students will complete a 17-day internship in April 2017. Each student will work at a different company in the agricultural sector to deepen their knowledge of the language and the sector they are studying. A teacher will accompany the students to supervise and coordinate all activities during the internship. This teacher will belong to the host partner and will oversee the internship for 17 days. Their role is to accompany them on the return trip and conduct the visits in coordination with the host partner's teacher.

  • Activity A2: The mobility participant will spend three days studying the host center's working methodologies and, at the same time, the environment in which the center is located. The main objective is to acquire educational methodologies and best practices to later incorporate into the center's curriculum.
Results
  • Activity A1 : We hope that students will achieve a higher professional level in the agricultural sector. We also hope that they will be able to research and adopt work mechanisms applicable to their future careers. We hope that they will be able to create their own business or work in the agricultural sector. We hope that they will improve their proficiency in a European language and, therefore, enhance their professional potential. We hope that the school will strengthen its relationship with European institutions to incorporate methodologies into our educational program. We hope to increase mobility activities to enrich the teaching staff involved in these types of projects.
  • Activity A2: We hope that staff mobility will have a positive impact on the organization of the center and on future mobility activities. We also hope that the person involved in the mobility will acquire the skills and attitudes necessary to achieve the objectives set in current and future Erasmus+ projects, serving as a guide for training other teachers in this type of activity.

  • Short, medium and long-term benefits:
  • Activity A1: In the short and long term, this will help students develop or idealize their future plans in rural areas, comparing them with other models they have encountered during their internships. It will also serve as a reference for beginning their career and as a possible source of inspiration for their own life plans.
  • Activity A2: In the medium and long term, it will be useful to improve the training program of the sending and receiving center, while acquiring a European dimension in teacher training.
