Description

The basic idea of the project is the implementation of a TC in agribusiness, which will synthesize the contributions of the participating organizations. Since all partners have recognized the vital role of agricultural education for young people, they have decided to establish an innovative and specialized international TC. This TC will enable young workers to acquire theoretical and practical knowledge in the field of agriculture. Therefore, the fundamental objective of the TC is to provide contemporary and engaging teaching materials for young workers, which will act as the main catalyst to inspire them to apply themselves to agribusiness. "AgroFuture" will not only enrich the knowledge of young workers in the field but will also seek to contribute to the reduction of youth unemployment by boosting the rural and regional economy through the creation of new agro-industries or the participation of a greater percentage of young people in the agricultural sector.

More specifically, the expansion of education, combined with the creation of an unprecedentedly strong network of young workers with a strong interest in the agricultural sector, will undoubtedly contribute to the modernization of economic activities in rural areas, thus boosting regional development. This contributes to the project's increased quality and added value.

In conclusion, the "AgroFuture" project seeks to train the next generation of entrepreneurs interested in the agricultural implications of entrepreneurship. This goal will be achieved by creating influential multipliers, such as civil society organizations and youth workers, who will be trained to educate and thus benefit from the project's resources. More analytically, by integrating various non-formal methods, ICT tools, and educational materials into the regular activities of the aforementioned organizations, potential agroindustrial entrepreneurs will be trained to maximize their entrepreneurial skills and agricultural knowledge, thereby identifying the challenges of our time that could allow them to develop solutions and models for a sustainable agroindustry.

Description of activities

This project is based on the implementation of a 7-day (5+2) training course, which will take place between December 10 and 16, 2019, in Cerro Muriano, Córdoba. Participants will be 23 youth workers (volunteers, project managers, social workers, educators, trainers, and other related professionals) who work directly with entrepreneurial young people, specifically in the agricultural sector, from seven different EU countries. In this way, we will ensure that the identified needs of our partners are directly addressed, as the reality analysis process has been carried out with their internal staff.

Participants will have the following background:

  • Proven basic experience or interest associated with the agricultural sector.
  • Proven contribution to society through voluntary work in an NGO.
  • Skills in guidance for personal and professional development.
  • Experience working with entrepreneurs through educational, advisory, informational, and guidance activities.
  • Experience in facilitating non-formal and informal learning.

The following needs of participants will be addressed:

  • Willingness to learn new techniques to address the topic of agribusiness.
  • I want to network and work with people from different backgrounds and countries on the project topic.
Objectives
  • Provide non-formal education tools to young workers/leaders in order to raise awareness about agricultural entrepreneurship
  • Develop specific skills in the planning/execution of non-formal education activities aimed at young people, with a focus on young people in rural areas.
  • Developing entrepreneurial skills to support the growth of a new generation of agricultural entrepreneurs
  • Strengthening youth participation in agriculture
  • Generate a new network, capable of developing strategic alliances based on knowledge of the agricultural sector
Results

Through a variety of specially designed activities, participants will be able to develop their skills in the field of agribusiness, learning about the multifaceted aspects of agriculture, both in theory and practice. During the TC, participants will create entirely new projects while also having the opportunity to obtain comprehensive feedback, a process that will allow them to identify their strengths and weaknesses, leaving them fully trained and prepared to implement similar initiatives in the future.

On the other hand, they will acquire useful online material related to agribusiness and, at the same time, expand their contacts and network through specific activities. Furthermore, they will learn about the different practices and approaches that young people interested in the agricultural sector can use and will gain new perspectives and aspects in the field of agriculture, which will provide the basis for deepening their knowledge and acquiring new skills necessary to be competitive in the labor market and in the agricultural sector.

At the local level, "AgroFuture" aims to provide the necessary boost to farms run by young farmers, a move that is expected to boost the local economy and, by extension, the regional economy of the participating countries, thus triggering a chain reaction in the national agricultural sector.
