Description
Efficient use of resources for the improvement of irrigated cereal farms.
In an agricultural sector undergoing constant decline and threatened by new external and internal challenges, the search for viable, feasible, efficient, and long-term solutions is a fundamental factor in both the survival of the sector and the rural environment in which it operates, which is threatened by the abandonment of crops, the population, and, in the medium term, by disappearance.
Objectives
- Achieving an improvement in irrigated cereal farms powered by photovoltaic energy and complemented by greenhouse farming that takes advantage of surplus electricity production during months without irrigation and surplus farm residues to improve the soil.
Results
- Improving cereal production through the use of software tools to control the efficient use of water and energy.
- Implementation of new crops through the introduction of a greenhouse powered by renewable energy from the surplus generated when cereals are not grown.
- Improvement of the soil's edaphological characteristics.
- Promote intersectoral cooperation to enhance innovative projects for the improvement of the Spanish agricultural sector.
