Description

This Task Force aims to establish measures that contribute to and complement those already adopted by both the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Food and Environment and the Regional Ministry of Rural Affairs to combat the spread of solanivorous tecia.

Efforts will be made to prevent the pest from entering the geographic area of the biosphere reserve and its spread to other areas of Galicia. A surveillance system will be implemented to detect the possible spread of the pest, both in the field and at potato collection or marketing points. Traps will be installed and controlled in the field. Public awareness will be raised regarding the restriction of potato cultivation and increased surveillance. The dissemination of control and eradication measures approved by the relevant authorities, including phytosanitary control methods, procedures for the destruction of contaminated tubers, etc. Collaboration will be carried out with technicians from the regional agricultural offices with jurisdiction in the defined areas regarding the measures adopted by the regional administration. The technical staff of the agricultural offices will be notified if any anomalies are detected. The creation of a georeferenced database, a geographic information system, will store the surveillance work carried out and any incidents detected.
