Operational Group: Biomass control with silvopastoral systems in several phases for fire prevention in the O Xurés natural park
- Type Operational group
- Execution 2016
- Assigned Budget 6.000,00 €
- Scope Autonómico
- Autonomous community Galicia
- Main source of financing PEPAC 2014-2020
The objective of this Operational Group is to study and implement silvopastoral systems to control scrubland with livestock, with the aim of managing biomass and creating firebreaks that prevent the spread of fire in the O Xurés Natural Park, while also allowing for extensive livestock production.
This association aims to study and resolve common problems faced by those associated with the agricultural and livestock sector, the rural environment, and the social life of the province of Ourense. Most of the province is defined as a high-risk fire area in the Galician forest fire prevention and defense plan, which poses a serious threat to both the population and the province's natural and economic resources. The goal is to reduce the impact of fire by turning fire prevention into a source of income for the area's livestock farmers.
