Description

The creation of this Operational Group has enabled the design of a working methodology for the assessment of the productivity of pasture areas, integrating livestock management, forestry, habitat conservation and fire prevention. It is being carried out in three different areas (Montnegre-Corredor Massif, Lluçanès and the Bellmunt Mountains) to take into account a greater variety of situations and to make it more easily replicable.

The project methodology is based on the following steps:

  • Definition of the needs and limitations of the four different points of view, translating them into indicators that can be easily assessed during the pilot tests.
  • Determination of priority areas for each of the points of view and their overlaps.
  • Definition of two types of livestock management to be evaluated, which are representative of the various areas of action or innovative.
  • The steps for defining pilot areas have been determined.
  • Establishment of the criteria to be taken into account for the development of these tests.

These steps allow for the implementation of pilot tests to assess the various types of management in priority areas from the livestock, forestry, fire prevention and habitat conservation perspectives.

Based on this assessment, several management scenarios and improvement proposals will be proposed to determine the optimal models from the 4 points of view.
