Description
Incorporation of olive stones as a reinforcement in biodegradable thermoplastics to obtain new plastic compounds suitable for obtaining products and components such as secondary packaging for olive oil.
Objectives
- Obtaining a homogeneous material from the grinding of olive stones with an adequate particle size on a micrometric scale to be incorporated as a reinforcing filler into a plastic matrix.
- Obtaining a biodegradable compound in a polymeric matrix with a reinforcing filler from olive stones (OLiPLAST) and with adequate behaviour to be processed by injection technology.
- Improving the environmental impact of using olive stones as a filler in the production of polymeric composite materials.
Results
- Optimization of the olive stone grinding process to obtain a homogeneous sample.
- Obtaining the OLiPLAST material and studying its creep behavior.
- Environmental study of the process of incorporating olive stones into biodegradable plastic material to obtain new products, compared with its use as biomass in an energy recovery process.
