Comparison of Three Nitrogen Fertilization Strategies in Cotton Cultivation

The nitrogen fertilization restriction scheme for eligibility for agri-environment support for cotton crops proposes a maximum nitrogen dose. This document evaluates the results of a pilot study on nitrogen fertilization in cotton crops with the following objectives: - To compare conventional fertilization strategies with new slow-release fertilizer technologies and to adapt management to avoid nitrogen losses through leaching. - To adapt application timing to improve nitrogen utilization by cotton crops. The results demonstrate the efficiency of slow-release nitrogen fertilizer technologies under the different circumstances tested.
