The closing event of the Supra-autonomous Operative Group Rebo2Vino “Circular economy for the reuse of glass bottles in the wine sector: Analysis of impacts and feasibility, and design of digital tools” will take place on February 26 in Madrid, where the main results and conclusions drawn will be reviewed. The project ends in March 2025 and has lasted almost 29 months of execution, during which two pilot tests have been developed (in Catalonia and Jerez) and all the impact categories of the Life Cycle Analysis have been analysed to determine the environmental and economic viability of implementing a potential reuse model in the wine sector. In addition, the main barriers and critical points have been identified, and a series of tools have been developed that will be helpful for future implementation at a national level. The Spanish Wine Federation (FEV) has made a very positive assessment of this project, considered strategic for the sector at a national level, and which lays the foundations for continuing to advance and scale up the results at a European level. We would like to thank the General Directorate of Rural Development, Innovation and Agri-Food Training for supporting this Operational Group, whose financing through the EU Next Generation Funds has been key to the development of the project and achieving the expected results. The closing ceremony is scheduled for 1:00 p.m., followed by an aperitif during which the pilot wines will be displayed with the reusable bottle designed in the project.

Once again, the fruit conference will be held, focusing on sustainable apple production and featuring presentations by leading international experts in the sector. The talks will cover key aspects such as the role of chill hours, the latest innovations in plant material, improving fruit quality and control strategies for Halyomorpha halys and Glomerella. This is a relevant opportunity to acquire advanced knowledge and share experiences with other professionals in the sector. GENERAL OBJECTIVES We live in times where the sustainability of our farms and their resilience to climate change and other external factors is key to ensuring that, tomorrow, we continue to have profitable crops. The application of the 2030 Agenda and the principles of sustainable development are key, not only in our farms, but also to access the markets in which we operate today. More and more customers are demanding strategies in this regard in order to be able to buy our products. People who are dedicated to producing food and their cooperatives, through marketing, have been working for years to safeguard and protect natural spaces, create employment, guarantee quality products, improve energy efficiency, in short, guaranteeing that agriculture and livestock continue to be sustainable sectors and therefore comply with the 2030 Agenda, but often, little is communicated about everything that is done. In addition, precision agriculture is of the utmost importance, since with the arrival of new technologies (sensors, satellites, drones, GPS, etc.), the field and our crops are constantly changing, and it is necessary to analyze and understand all the variations and particularities of the environment in order to be able to provide the exact inputs for the optimization of the harvests. The application of technology in agriculture allows us to obtain the information necessary to understand variations in soil and crops , and this, together with the principles outlined in terms of sustainability, can become a competitive advantage, much needed in these times.

This year, EUFRAS resumes the COFFEE Break event series started last year, and has already announced its first event of 2025, to be held on 23 January at 10:00 CET via Zoom . This time, the experience of the COREnet project, entitled "Short Food Supply Chains (SFSC) Advisory Network" will be explored. EUFRAS is the European Forum for Agricultural and Rural Advisory Services , an organisation that connects professionals and organisations dedicated to providing advisory services in the agricultural and rural field across Europe. On January 23 at 9:30, in an online format, the presentation day of the Spanish Network of Advisors in Organic Production will take place. This initiative is linked to the European project OrganicAdviceNetwork and is open to both conventional advisors who want to get started in organic production, as well as those with consolidated experience in the sector , since it is hoped to reach the largest possible number of advisors in order to create a space to learn, share and grow together. During this session the following will be announced: The objectives and activities of the Spanish network. The possibilities for participation and the commitments to be part of it. Next steps to strengthen advice on organic production in Spain. On January 15, 2025 , the horticulture sector has a key date with the conference entitled “Innovation and Challenges in Horticulture” , an event that will bring together experts, companies and professionals in a forum for the exchange of knowledge. The conference, organized by Tierras Agricultura magazine and Grupo Interempresas, will be held in an environment designed to foster connections between the main players in the sector.
