Technical seminar of the PLANFORLAB Operational Group

On April 1, 2025, the Hotel Palacio de Aiete will host the seminar "Network of laboratory forests with improved plants to increase resilience and production in coniferous forests." This event will bring together forestry sector experts to analyze the challenges and opportunities in pine forest management in the Basque Country. The seminar is organized by the Supra-autonomous Operational Group PLANFORLAB , an initiative that seeks to strengthen forest resilience through the use of improved plants. Participants include the Forestry Association of Galicia (AFG) , the Federation of Forestry Associations of Castilla y León (FAFCYLE) , the Confederation of Foresters of the Basque Country (CFPV) , the Agrarian Transformation Company SA, SME, MP (TRAGSA) , the Galician Business-University Foundation (FEUGA) and the Confederation of Forestry Organizations of Spain (COSE) as beneficiary members, and the LOURIZÁN Forestry Research Center , NEIKER Technology Center , the University of Valladolid Foundation (UVa) and the Institute of Forestry Sciences of INIA-CSIC , which act as subcontracted members. Registration for the first OrganicAdviceNetwork cross-tour: "Organic Viticulture in Italy" is open until February 25th OrganicAdviceNetwork , the knowledge exchange network between organic production advisors recently launched in Spain, is organizing its first cross-visit for advisors from Southern Europe, focusing, on this occasion, on organic viticulture and its adaptation to climate change. This visit is designed for advisors interested in organic viticulture , both those with experience and those who want to start in the sector. It will be a unique opportunity to learn about different advisory approaches , share experiences and explore strategies for adapting to climate change in organic vineyards and wineries. During two days of field visits , participants will learn about different strategies for managing organic vineyards and wineries, share experiences with advisors from all over Europe and explore innovative business models. Soil improvement in vineyards

The objective of this technical workshop is to deepen knowledge of the mechanisms that facilitate soil improvement, the factors that increase organic matter, understand how they work and how we can enhance them, as well as point out which practices can be negative. The results of studies on vineyard soil management, carried out by INCAVI, will be presented with the aim of defining sustainable strategies that promote the quality of grapes and wine. IRTA will consider introducing new molecular analysis technologies that allow us to understand soil biology, better understand how it works, and improve its management.
