The Simbioliva Operational Group plans to hold an informative presentation on April 9 at the Orujera Interprovincial Conference in Fuente de Piedra. As part of a training program run by an educational institution in collaboration with the University of Malaga (UMA) , students from the NCEC (Saudi Arabia's National Center for Environmental Control) will be visiting the Simbioliva Operational Group project. The goal is to raise awareness of the Spanish model for valorizing alperujo (a type of olive oil), as well as the various R&D&I alternatives and initiatives applied to this byproduct. This project is also presented as a benchmark for innovation in the use of alperujo (a type of olive oil), serving as an inspiration for other agricultural sectors worldwide.

The Catholic Agricultural Cooperative COOP. V. de Cocentaina , in collaboration with the Fira de Tots Sants, Cocentaina City Council , is organizing the fifth International EVOO Forum, Technical Conference and EVOO Competition. For the fifth consecutive year, this event will bring together the Extra Virgin Olive Oil sector for three days in Cocentaina (Alicante). Interesting technical sessions that include round tables and conferences, showcookings and tastings with the interaction of the public and, as a central activity, the International EVOO Competition, whose prizes will be awarded on the third and last day of the event, Friday, January 31, 2025. These awards are given by the prestigious Official Tasting Panel of the Valencian Community in five categories: three awards in the general category and two special awards: for the best organic EVOO and the best EVOO of the Valencian Community. These awards are completed with the recognition of the organization to different personalities or entities for their work in promoting and defending Extra Virgin Olive Oil. On January 15, 2025 , the horticulture sector has a key date with the conference entitled “Innovation and Challenges in Horticulture” , an event that will bring together experts, companies and professionals in a forum for the exchange of knowledge. The conference, organized by Tierras Agricultura magazine and Grupo Interempresas, will be held in an environment designed to foster connections between the main players in the sector. The Economics, Post-harvest and Industry Working Groups of the Spanish Society of Horticultural Sciences (SECH) are organizing a new online Congress on "The agri-food challenge in the face of climate change" that will take place online on December 3 and 4 . The challenges of the agri-food sector in the current climate change scenario and the 2030 Agenda require a response from the entire agri-food chain, from production, through industry, process improvement, marketing and responsible food consumption, and influencing the responsibility of society itself. These challenges become challenges and opportunities that will be addressed at the Congress. The conference will be organised in sessions that will include oral presentations and invited speakers with works related to fruit and vegetable production, post-harvest, circular economy and environmental sustainability.

The Plant Health and Certification Service is the technical unit that carries out the functions of control and certification of seeds and nursery plants, the management of surveillance and control plans for plant pests and diseases, the marketing and use of phytosanitary products and their evaluation, and technical advice to the production sector on plant health and seed production.

The Andalusian Living Lab is established as an entity aimed at promoting and implementing innovative and sustainable technological solutions aimed at improving the health of olive grove soil. It is part of the European LIVINGSOILL project (Healthy Soil to Permanent Crops Living Labs) funded with 12 million euros, of which 2 million are destined for Andalusian olive groves. The University of Jaén will be responsible for coordinating this Living Lab, which also includes 15 Andalusian entities with recognised R&D&I activity related to olive growing. The programme for the presentation event includes three round tables that will focus on the following topics: Soil health, challenges and ecosystem services. Innovation projects: Utilization of olive grove by-products within the framework of the circular economy. Pilot experiences of olive oil companies aimed at improving soil health.
