Sustainability and profitability in leaf and brassica cultivation

Spain cultivates 32,000 hectares of lettuce, with Murcia leading the way, accounting for almost half of the national production. Other growing crops in the region include celery, spinach, and escarole. The leafy and brassica sector faces challenges such as improving production efficiency and sustainability, strengthening pest resistance, and optimizing post-harvest shelf life. The Region of Murcia is a leader in innovation in this field, developing new materials and advanced techniques. For this reason, Grupo Interempresas is organizing a conference in Murcia to bring together all the key players in the sector and analyze its evolution, challenges, and business opportunities. Drone application of biostimulants in pistachio crops to increase productivity

The demonstration activity involves a real-life drone application of substances with biostimulant activity on pistachio crops in the province of Toledo. The optimal phenological stage of the crop for application will be determined by prior crop monitoring using data recorded by Sentinel-2 remote sensors in the main electromagnetic bands. According to previous experiments conducted by the UPV research team, the application is planned for the flowering and fruit set phases. Next, the active ingredients will be selected, and their effect on the plant will be related to its phenological state at the time of application. For the final application, the flight parameters (drift, speed, height, nozzle adjustment, etc.) will be determined to apply the exact dose of active ingredient and its concentration. Approaching regenerative agriculture

Within the framework of the Riudoms Hazelnut Fair, on August 6, the technical conference "Approach to regenerative agriculture" will take place, organized by the Department of Climate Action, Food and Rural Agenda of the Generalitat of Catalonia and the College of Agricultural Technical Engineers of Catalonia. Although soil biology has been known for decades, it has only been in recent years that people have become aware of the damage that conventional agricultural practices have caused to the soil. Regenerative agriculture essentially consists of crop management that is very focused on the Restoring soil health with techniques that are not always easy to implement. In order to make progress in soil recovery, the first thing to do is to understand how soils work and know what tools exist. PROGRAM
