Description

Service crops have become a fundamental tool in conservation agriculture , providing essential benefits for the soil and agricultural ecosystems. Although they are not intended for commercialization, their incorporation into farms improves soil structure and fertility, prevents erosion, increases biodiversity, and optimizes water management.

This course offers a comprehensive overview of service crop management across a variety of agricultural systems, highlighting their role in the transition to more sustainable and regenerative agriculture .

Course objectives

  • Understand what service crops are and their importance in conservation agriculture.
    Understand its multiple functions, such as improving soil structure, controlling invasive species, and increasing organic matter.
    Learn strategies to reduce the use of external inputs and conserve soil.
    Acquire tools to apply a regenerative approach to agricultural practice.

Methodology

Modality: Online via videoconference.
Certification: A minimum attendance of 85% and passing a final assessment are required.
Attendance control: Registration with first and last name during the live connection.

  • Cover management in woody crops as a key strategy in conservation agriculture.

Tuesday, March 25 | 3:00 PM - 6:00 PM

  • Management of service crops in extensive crops (cereals such as corn, wheat, soybeans and oilseeds).

Agricultural engineers, agricultural technicians, agronomy students, and industry professionals who wish to delve deeper into sustainable soil management and biodiversity.

Teaching

Carlos Molina Pitarch
An agricultural and rural engineer with a postgraduate degree in Integrated Pest Management, he is a technical advisor specializing in Conservation Agriculture and has been part of the AGRACON technical team since 2018.
