Aimed at owners and workers on livestock farms or anyone who wants to get involved in livestock farming.
Goals:
Obtaining a certificate of training in animal welfare. Training will be obtained by attending the course and passing an exam, and will be accredited by the issuance of a card by the Department of Agriculture, Livestock and Food.

Introduction. General aspects of animal welfare legislation and training of personnel responsible for the care and handling of animals. Law 11/2003, of March 19, on animal protection in the Autonomous Community of Aragon. Society and animal welfare. Situation in the European Union.
Animal anatomy and physiology. Animal behaviour. Animal welfare and adaptation. Health, stress, disease. Predisposing and determining causes of disease.
Practical aspects of animal welfare. Buildings, facilities and equipment. Animal management. Actions in response to animal injuries and illnesses. Law 8/2003, of April 24, on animal health: Health alert plans, mandatory slaughter, identification, registration and health documentation. SPECIFIC MODULE
Specific legislation on animal protection on farms and on the slaughter of animals outside slaughterhouses.
Physiology of the species and its relation to behaviour. Food and water requirements. Surgical interventions, mutilations and treatments of animals.
Animal welfare and production. Influence of animal welfare on the production and quality of animal products.
Economic importance of the implementation of animal welfare legislation.
Design, construction, facilities and equipment of farms.
Health plans, alert networks, handling, emergency care of animals and biosecurity measures on the farm. Occupational safety criteria.
Responsibility of the animal owner. General conditions of transport and applicable regulations. Animals suitable for transport. Means of transport, transport documentation, cleaning and disinfection of vehicles.
