Agricultural biorefinery for valorisation of biowaste from intensive horticulture

The objective of this Operational Group is the valorisation of bio-waste from intensive horticulture through agricultural biorefinery for the production of bioethanol and other bioproducts.

The proposed project integrates two sectors (and associated technologies), namely intensive horticulture, the environmental management of the plant remains generated by it and its conversion into compost, and the main innovation factor, which is represented by the biotechnological conversion of plant remains into bioethanol and other bioproducts obtained before and/or after the fermentation process of the initial organic matter.
