Development of gene bank of native fruit trees from Asvinor to improve competitiveness in fruit growing in Galicia

This Operational Group was created to develop a gene bank of native fruit trees from the Association of Nurserymen of the Northwest (ASVINOR), in order to provide the service of transferring plant material to fruit producers in Galicia.

For development, the varieties that are currently being reproduced will first be cleaned of viruses and bacteria by thermotherapy, for which the material will be requested from the nurseries. Later, a field of mother plants of the different varieties will be created, which will be cared for and directed towards obtaining plant reproduction material to transfer to the nurserymen who request it.
