Description
Establish methodologies that allow for the accounting of the increase in carbon in agricultural soils and in fixed and lasting structures as a result of the application of sustainable agronomic practices.
Objectives
- Identify for each of the 6 crops under study the different cultivation systems, agricultural practices and/or cultural treatments that have the greatest potential for carbon absorption and storage.
- To determine the climatic, soil and agronomic factors that most decisively influence the absorption and storage of carbon by agricultural soils.
- Define objective, economical and easily replicable methods for quantifying carbon absorption and storage.
- Define a methodology that enables certification of carbon sequestration obtained and agricultural practice guides for farmers that incorporate information on the different agricultural management strategies that ensure carbon absorption.
- Dissemination, exploitation and transfer of results.
Results
- Creation of a database on carbon sequestration for each of the practices, systems and/or techniques found in the bibliographic review of the 6 crops.
- Report with the parameters that most decisively influence carbon absorption and storage.
- Selection of specific methodologies for quantifying carbon absorption and storage.
- Certification methodology defined and implemented and drafting of good agricultural practice guides for farmers.
- Presentation of the project and its results and creation of a documentary and material base.
