The importance of advice in the face of the challenges of the sector

On January 15, 2025 , the horticulture sector has a key date with the conference entitled “Innovation and Challenges in Horticulture” , an event that will bring together experts, companies and professionals in a forum for the exchange of knowledge. The conference, organized by Tierras Agricultura magazine and Grupo Interempresas, will be held in an environment designed to foster connections between the main players in the sector. Program of the day 09:00 - Opening: The event will begin with a welcome by Ángel Pérez, Director of the Agricultural Area of Grupo Interempresas , and representatives of Banco Sabadell and SOAGA , under the moderation of Alejandro de Vega, Editorial Coordinator of Tierras Agricultura . Block I: Trends in the horticulture sector This first block will start at 09:30 with the presentation by SOAGA, followed by Enrique Cadiñanos, from Bejo Ibérica, who will address the importance of seed quality in horticultural varieties. In addition, there will be an additional presentation before giving way to a coffee break and networking at 10:15 . Block II: The challenges in plant health of horticultural crops The session will resume at 11:00 with a focus on plant health. Among the most notable presentations are: Hugo Moreno (CAR UPM-CSIC), who will talk about the use of Artificial Intelligence in weed control. Representatives from BAYER and FMC will share their perspectives on innovations in the field of phytosanitary products. Juanjo López , Director of Operations at Agriindus, will analyze agricultural and industrial integration in horticulture . The block will conclude with a round table at 12:15 , focusing on the importance of technical advice in the management of horticultural crops. Closing and networking The day will end with a closing ceremony at 1:30 p.m. , followed by a Spanish wine to facilitate networking among attendees. State of robotization in the agri-food sector. Session II

The second session of the webinar "State of robotization in the agri-food sector" will take place on January 14, organized by the Digitalization Observatory of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food. The objective of this webinar is to learn about the state of robotization in greenhouse agriculture, as well as to discuss the current reality of this issue, its benefits and challenges, and the future prospects for its mass adoption. In addition, success stories and the most recent technological advances that are driving this transformation in the agricultural sector will be analyzed. Third meeting of the AKIS Forum for knowledge transfer

In order to continue the work of the AKIS Forum, the Department of Food, Rural Development, Agriculture and Fisheries of the Basque Government has convened the third “AKIS Forum for the transfer of knowledge in the Basque Country” for 11 December . As with the two previous forums, this event will take place at Caballerizas (Arkaute Model Farm) and on this occasion, the latest developments and advances in the Basque Country's agritech strategy, led by NEIKER, will be presented to stakeholders in the Basque agri-food sector. In the Basque Country, AKIS has its own objectives linked to our reality. Among them, to professionalize people as advisors, so that they can promote the modernization of the agri-food sector and rural areas and contribute to achieving the Basque Challenges. New consumer trends are evolving rapidly, driven by changes in technology, sustainability and consumer preferences. ATTENTIA project dissemination day

On December 10, 2024, at the University of Huelva, the HIDRONUT_SAT Operational Group (GO) “Application of high-resolution satellite images from the Copernicus program in the management of nutrition and irrigation in citrus crops” will present its objectives and progress during the ATTENTIA project Dissemination Day. This meeting will feature the researcher from the University of Huelva, Alberto Zabalo and Carlos Chacón, from the Department of Field – PRL – García Carrión 1.890 SL, members of the HIDRONUT Operational Group , to bring together objectives and advances deployed in this initiative. It should be noted that through this innovative initiative, the Andalusian citrus sector will have access to new digital tools to optimize water and nutrient management, and improve decision-making for the economic and environmental sustainability of producers and industry, improving traceability and transparency in transactions between the links in the production chain.
