From November 13 to 14 , the VII Agri-Food Digital Transformation Forum DATAGRI 2024 will take place at the iHub La Vega Innova , an event that has become the reference in southern Europe and Latin America in terms of digital transformation and innovation in the agricultural and agri-food sectors. Innovation and agri-food knowledge at the DATAGRI 2024 Forum La Vega Innova, the Digital Innovation Centre of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, will host the different activities of DATAGRI 2024, which for this year presents a new format that will facilitate the exchange of experiences and knowledge among the more than 800 professional attendees expected. For two days, the event will combine presentations and workshops with practical demonstrations within the Forum Day , to hear about the projects that research centres, universities and technology companies are involved in; and the Demo Day that will allow participants to experience and connect directly with current innovation in the AgriFoodTech sector, visiting the test fields surrounding La Vega Innova. Generative artificial intelligence in the agricultural sector One of the central themes of this edition will be the role of generative artificial intelligence in the agricultural sector. This technology is transforming the management of agricultural production, from yield prediction and crop monitoring to supply chain optimization . José Luis Miguel, President of the DATAGRI Association, highlights that " generative artificial intelligence allows for the creation of more precise predictive models, facilitating informed decision-making and improving operational efficiency and sustainability." Institutional support for agri-food innovation Isabel Bombal, Director General of Rural Development, Innovation and Agri-Food Training at MAPA, underlines the Ministry's constant support for the DATAGRI Forum since its first edition. She also highlights the importance of including young people, women and startups in the agenda, as well as promoting sustainable irrigation and digitalisation with a comprehensive vision of the agri-food chain. Within the framework of the First Strategic Plan for Organic Production in La Rioja, the Department of Agriculture, Livestock, Rural World and Environment is organizing a technical and field workshop: Organic olive grove management. Experimental farm at La Grajera farm , aimed at farmers and technicians. Its objective is to delve into the agronomic management of olive cultivation in organic production: varieties, planting frames, pest and disease management, fertilization, cultural practices, harvesting... The olive grove and the institutional organic oil mill of the La Grajera estate will be visited . New technologies applied to the genetic improvement of small ruminants

The Regional Centre for Animal Selection and Reproduction (CERSYRA-IRIAF) is organising a course on the latest technologies applied to the genetic improvement of small ruminants. The event will take place next Monday at the CERSYRA facilities, located at Avda. del Vino 10, Valdepeñas (Ciudad Real) , and will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The aim of the course is to present the services that laboratories can offer to the livestock sector and how to adapt them to their specific needs. During the course, there will be a visit to the CERSYRA facilities, which will include the Reproduction, Molecular Genetics and Lactology departments, as well as its experimental cheese factory. The topics to be discussed include the application of molecular genetics in the genetic improvement of small ruminants, genetic identification and genealogical control, genetic improvement programmes and the achievements made, as well as the analytical tools that support these advances. On October 29, the Demofarm technical conference will be held in Andalusia, focusing on "Digital transformation tools in citrus." This is the 29th edition of an event aimed primarily at organisations with the capacity to participate in Horizon Europe , and specifically, at people whose main activity is supporting the participation of Spanish entities in research, technological development and innovation activities financed by the European Union through Horizon Europe and related initiatives. The aim is for participants to acquire the necessary skills to advise their researchers, their organisations or other entities in order to guide and adapt their proposals to the calls for Horizon Europe , working in a network with other organisations. Additionally, for those attendees familiar with R&D&I projects, the Seminar contributes to training them to prepare and elaborate proposals in their area of competence.
