From November 13 to 14 , the VII Agri-Food Digital Transformation Forum DATAGRI 2024 will take place at the iHub La Vega Innova , an event that has become the reference in southern Europe and Latin America in terms of digital transformation and innovation in the agricultural and agri-food sectors. Innovation and agri-food knowledge at the DATAGRI 2024 Forum La Vega Innova, the Digital Innovation Centre of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, will host the different activities of DATAGRI 2024, which for this year presents a new format that will facilitate the exchange of experiences and knowledge among the more than 800 professional attendees expected. For two days, the event will combine presentations and workshops with practical demonstrations within the Forum Day , to hear about the projects that research centres, universities and technology companies are involved in; and the Demo Day that will allow participants to experience and connect directly with current innovation in the AgriFoodTech sector, visiting the test fields surrounding La Vega Innova. Generative artificial intelligence in the agricultural sector One of the central themes of this edition will be the role of generative artificial intelligence in the agricultural sector. This technology is transforming the management of agricultural production, from yield prediction and crop monitoring to supply chain optimization . José Luis Miguel, President of the DATAGRI Association, highlights that " generative artificial intelligence allows for the creation of more precise predictive models, facilitating informed decision-making and improving operational efficiency and sustainability." Institutional support for agri-food innovation Isabel Bombal, Director General of Rural Development, Innovation and Agri-Food Training at MAPA, underlines the Ministry's constant support for the DATAGRI Forum since its first edition. She also highlights the importance of including young people, women and startups in the agenda, as well as promoting sustainable irrigation and digitalisation with a comprehensive vision of the agri-food chain. Technical workshop for the dissemination of the Demofarm project: digital transformation tools in citrus

On October 29, the Demofarm technical conference will be held in Andalusia, focusing on "Digital transformation tools in citrus." The event will offer participants a practical overview of the latest technologies applied to citrus cultivation , with a guided tour of Finca Mogollón , where innovative monitoring and sensor solutions have been implemented to optimize water management and pest control. Digital tools for citrus cultivation Technologies to be presented include irrigation network monitoring, digital traps for the detection of Ceratitis Capitata , soil and plant sensors, and the use of satellite imaging platforms . The Demofarm Andalucía technical team, together with Tragsatec , will guide attendees throughout the day, explaining how these tools work and their benefits for more efficient management of farms. This is the 29th edition of an event aimed primarily at organisations with the capacity to participate in Horizon Europe , and specifically, at people whose main activity is supporting the participation of Spanish entities in research, technological development and innovation activities financed by the European Union through Horizon Europe and related initiatives. The aim is for participants to acquire the necessary skills to advise their researchers, their organisations or other entities in order to guide and adapt their proposals to the calls for Horizon Europe , working in a network with other organisations. Startup Olé , a major international event that brings together startups, investors, universities, students, companies and administrations to generate collaboration opportunities , is holding a new edition between October 8 and 10, 2024 , in various locations in the city of Salamanca . Among the areas it addresses, there is also entrepreneurship in the agricultural and agri-food sectors. Around 3,000 attendees gather around round tables, investment events or hackathons, among other activities. For example, on October 9th the round table "Innovation and sustainability in Conscious Agriculture" will take place, with two different parts. In the first part, Luis M Luengo, founder of Concious Agriculture, will participate as moderator, with the participation of Ana Digón, president of the Spanish Association of Regenerative Agriculture; David Nafria, Head of the Sativum project of the Agrarian Technological Institute of the Junta de Castilla y León; and Jesús Rodríguez, representing regenerative livestock farming in Salamanca. Digital fruit demonstrator, kiwi crop monitoring

On October 4th, at 9:30 am, the DiH Datalife Hub will organize a day together with Kiwi Atlántico to present its digital fruit demonstrator , implemented within the framework of the HIBA+ project . The purpose of this event is to present, at a sector level, an advanced experimental solution for monitoring and managing a kiwi fruit farm in Galicia, which could be applied to other fruit and even vegetable crops. The field day will take place at the farm located in Bonaval – Burgueira , while the talk and lunch will take place at the Nueva Colina – Tomiño hotel. In addition to the presentation of the center and the project, there will be a guided tour of the facilities , where the implemented technology can be observed in operation . The DIH DATAlife Hub is an initiative developed within the framework of the Galician Strategy for Digital Innovation Hubs, promoted by the Xunta de Galicia through the Ministry of Economy, Employment and Industry. Presentation of the Andalusian Living Lab, within the European Livingsoil project

The Andalusian Living Lab is established as an entity aimed at promoting and implementing innovative and sustainable technological solutions aimed at improving the health of olive grove soil. It is part of the European LIVINGSOILL project (Healthy Soil to Permanent Crops Living Labs) funded with 12 million euros, of which 2 million are destined for Andalusian olive groves. The University of Jaén will be responsible for coordinating this Living Lab, which also includes 15 Andalusian entities with recognised R&D&I activity related to olive growing. The programme for the presentation event includes three round tables that will focus on the following topics: Soil health, challenges and ecosystem services. Innovation projects: Utilization of olive grove by-products within the framework of the circular economy. Pilot experiences of olive oil companies aimed at improving soil health. In addition, a conference will be held on digitalisation in the olive sector.

Lecture series on new technologies in agriculture

Between September 12 and October 2, Miguel Hernández University has launched a series of conferences entitled "The Challenges of Agriculture: Technological Innovation and Digitalization ", which will be held in Orihuela, Elche and Pilar de la Horadada. Specifically: September 12: 19:00h. Orihuela. La Lonja. 24 September: 19:00h Elche. Congress Centre. Filet de Fora, 1. October 2: 7:00 p.m. Pilar de la Horada. Coop. Surinver. The cycle has the financial support of the Alicante Provincial Council and is organised in collaboration with the town councils of Orihuela, Elche and Pilar de la Horadada. The activity is aimed at farmers, agricultural professionals and the general public. Orihuela was the setting for the first session, which was held at La Lonja. Irrigation using soil probes, nitrate control and precision agriculture were the focus of the conferences. The first open day of the 53rd Seminar for Horticultural Technicians and Specialists will be held on September 23rd . It is organized by the Andalusian Institute for Research and Training in Agriculture, Fisheries, Food and Organic Production (IFAPA) in collaboration with COITAND and MAPA. The event will take place at the IES El Picacho , in Sanlúcar de Barrameda, and will begin at 10:30 a.m. The programme includes a presentation on premium horticulture and a historical overview of IFAPA in Chipiona, followed by several technical presentations that will address key topics such as: The short digital marketing channel in Andalusia. The registry of operators authorized to issue plant health passports. The agronomic behaviour of zucchini cultivars in Tenerife. Aspects of circular economy and the use of leachates in microalgae production. In addition, the impacts of microplastics in horticulture and their impact on health will be explored, among other topics of interest to the agri-food sector.
