Healthy Soils for Productive and Climate-Resilient Agriculture

The Fertiberia Chair of Agro-Environmental Studies will hold its 16th conference on April 10th under the theme "Healthy Soils for Productive and Climate-Resilient Agriculture." The event, which will take place at the ETSIAAB (Educational Institute of Agriculture and Fisheries) in Madrid, seeks to explore innovative strategies and technologies that improve agricultural productivity without compromising soil health or the sector's profitability. It will feature the participation of leading experts and an institutional address by Elena Busutil , Director General of Agricultural Production and Markets at the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Food . During the conference, key topics will be addressed, such as the role of carbon in agricultural soils , the importance of the microbiome for fertility , and the impact of microorganism-based fertilizers on human health. Additionally, specialists from institutions such as CEBAS-CSIC , the University of Lisbon , and the Ministry of Health will share their knowledge on biotechnology and soil regeneration. An innovative soil digitization project in Spain using artificial intelligence will also be presented. The event will conclude with a presentation by Augusto Arce , director of the Fertiberia Chair , and a cocktail reception to encourage the exchange of ideas among attendees. Moderated by Luis Montoto Rojo , this event will establish itself as a leading forum for discussing agricultural sustainability and soil conservation in the context of climate change. Conference on sustainable management and soil quality, within the framework of the Phos4Cycle project

The Department of Agriculture, Livestock, Rural World and Environment of the Government of La Rioja organizes the Sustainable management and soil quality conference, within the framework of the European project " Phos4Cycle. Monitoring of phosphates in agricultural and livestock activities for the sustainable use of soil and water, of the Interreg Sudoe program ". The Phos4Cycle project aims to develop a common strategy and action plan for the management of phosphates associated with agricultural and livestock activity in rural areas. Among the strategies evaluated in the project is the application of biochar in different crops. The use of biochar has been increasing in recent years due to the environmental benefits attributed to it. This conference will discuss how the application of biochar affects soil quality and carbon dynamics, as well as experiences of its use in different crops. The Spanish Fertilizer Trade Association (ACEFER) is holding the sixth edition of the National Congress on Fertilization on September 25 and 26 at the Puerta América Hotel in Madrid , under the motto “Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence” . The year 2024 has been crucial for the agricultural sector, with numerous mobilisations at European and national level highlighting the importance of agriculture and food. Energy industry and its relationship with fertilizers During the congress, key topics will be addressed such as the fertilizer market and regulations , the current situation of the agricultural sector, and technological and artificial intelligence advances in the field . First open day “Promoting Innovation, Sustainability and Added Value in the Agri-Food Sector”

The first open day of the 53rd Seminar for Horticultural Technicians and Specialists will be held on September 23rd . It is organized by the Andalusian Institute for Research and Training in Agriculture, Fisheries, Food and Organic Production (IFAPA) in collaboration with COITAND and MAPA. The event will take place at the IES El Picacho , in Sanlúcar de Barrameda, and will begin at 10:30 a.m. The programme includes a presentation on premium horticulture and a historical overview of IFAPA in Chipiona, followed by several technical presentations that will address key topics such as: The short digital marketing channel in Andalusia. The registry of operators authorized to issue plant health passports. The agronomic behaviour of zucchini cultivars in Tenerife. Aspects of circular economy and the use of leachates in microalgae production. In addition, the impacts of microplastics in horticulture and their impact on health will be explored, among other topics of interest to the agri-food sector. The day will conclude at 2:00 p.m. after a final block of technical presentations and discussions on agricultural biodiversity. Attendance is free , upon registration.
