On January 29, the networking event " AKIS in action: Raising Awareness of Farmers' Role in the Agri- Food Supply Chain " will take place online via Zoom . Organised by modernAKIS , the European initiative seeking to boost the modernisation of agriculture through more efficient and effective Agricultural Knowledge and Innovation Systems (AKIS), this event is part of its series of networking events "AKIS in Action" which seeks to interconnect Agricultural Knowledge and Innovation Systems (AKIS) actors across Europe. The prominent role of farmers in the agri-food value chain Farmers play a crucial role in the sustainability and resilience of the agri-food supply chain, although their contributions are often underestimated. The aim of the event is to highlight the importance of farmers in this sphere. Initiatives designed to strengthen connections between farmers and other supply chain actors will be presented, fostering collaboration and innovation. First open day “Promoting Innovation, Sustainability and Added Value in the Agri-Food Sector”

The first open day of the 53rd Seminar for Horticultural Technicians and Specialists will be held on September 23rd . It is organized by the Andalusian Institute for Research and Training in Agriculture, Fisheries, Food and Organic Production (IFAPA) in collaboration with COITAND and MAPA. The event will take place at the IES El Picacho , in Sanlúcar de Barrameda, and will begin at 10:30 a.m. The programme includes a presentation on premium horticulture and a historical overview of IFAPA in Chipiona, followed by several technical presentations that will address key topics such as: The short digital marketing channel in Andalusia. The registry of operators authorized to issue plant health passports. The agronomic behaviour of zucchini cultivars in Tenerife. Aspects of circular economy and the use of leachates in microalgae production. In addition, the impacts of microplastics in horticulture and their impact on health will be explored, among other topics of interest to the agri-food sector. The day will conclude at 2:00 p.m. after a final block of technical presentations and discussions on agricultural biodiversity. Attendance is free , upon registration. The big agricultural advisory conference, 10-13 September, in Edinburgh

From 10 to 13 September 2024 , Edinburgh will become the capital of agricultural advice. The city will host the respective annual sessions of the three main European rural advice networks (IALB, EUFRAS and SEASN) that come together to form this major event with the motto "Adapting to zero emissions" for 2024. The event thus consolidates its position as the largest agricultural advice and consultancy conference in Europe. 63rd IALB, 13th EUFRAS and 10th SEASN 2024 Conferences The aim of the conference is to bring together consultants from across Europe to explore how different countries integrate education and research with consultancy to deliver best practice and achieve truly effective information and innovation transfer . This year, the programme promises an interesting mix of inspiration, learning, networking and knowledge for delegates. Through a variety of workshops, keynote lectures, cultural exhibitions, tourism experiences and networking opportunities, the conference will explore Scotland's agricultural system and how it builds and leverages relationships between people working in the rural economy and those in research, education and consultancy, to improve the sustainability of rural land use in Scotland. Presentation of an INLAC report on sustainability in the dairy sector

The report “ What matters is milk: Roadmap for a dairy sector that is economically, socially and environmentally sustainable ” will be presented on July 4 in Madrid. Promoted by the Interprofessional Láctea ( InLac ), the study has been coordinated by Professor Manuel Laínez Andrés and lays the foundations for a more sustainable future for the Spanish dairy sector, highlighting global environmental sustainability objectives, aligned with the European strategy “From farm to table”. It also includes commitments to progress and a set of indicators to quantify them. To give visibility to the initiatives that are already being carried out in the sector to promote sustainability, a spot called “ Sustainable without knowing it ” has been created, which will be shown during the day, as part of a new communication campaign by the interprofessional. The event will bring together a large number of stakeholders from the dairy sector, from suppliers of raw materials for animal feed to livestock farmers, members of leading cooperatives and the processing industry. José Miguel Herrero, Director General of Food at the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAPA), is expected to participate in the opening of the event, which will end with the round table “Sustainability in the dairy sector: one step further”, moderated by Fernando Moraleda, Director of the Food Office of LLYC. EIP-AGRI Operational Groups: Innovation in practice

The Conference will bring together the best of agricultural and rural innovation in Europe.
