The tenth edition of the technical conference "Vineyard cultivation and grape quality" will take place on February 27 at the Palacio de Villachica Winery, Peñafiel (Valladolid). The event will feature the participation of Enrique Pascual, President of the CRDO Ribera del Duero and, among other topics, AI and its application in precision viticulture or the future of viticulture in the DO Ribera del Duero will be addressed. The closing event of the Supra-autonomous Operative Group Rebo2Vino “Circular economy for the reuse of glass bottles in the wine sector: Analysis of impacts and feasibility, and design of digital tools” will take place on February 26 in Madrid, where the main results and conclusions drawn will be reviewed. The project ends in March 2025 and has lasted almost 29 months of execution, during which two pilot tests have been developed (in Catalonia and Jerez) and all the impact categories of the Life Cycle Analysis have been analysed to determine the environmental and economic viability of implementing a potential reuse model in the wine sector. In addition, the main barriers and critical points have been identified, and a series of tools have been developed that will be helpful for future implementation at a national level. The Spanish Wine Federation (FEV) has made a very positive assessment of this project, considered strategic for the sector at a national level, and which lays the foundations for continuing to advance and scale up the results at a European level. We would like to thank the General Directorate of Rural Development, Innovation and Agri-Food Training for supporting this Operational Group, whose financing through the EU Next Generation Funds has been key to the development of the project and achieving the expected results. The closing ceremony is scheduled for 1:00 p.m., followed by an aperitif during which the pilot wines will be displayed with the reusable bottle designed in the project.

GENERAL OBJECTIVES We live in times where the sustainability of our farms and their resilience to climate change and other external factors is key to ensuring that, tomorrow, we continue to have profitable crops. The application of the 2030 Agenda and the principles of sustainable development are key, not only in our farms, but also to access the markets in which we operate today. More and more customers are demanding strategies in this regard in order to be able to buy our products. People who are dedicated to producing food and their cooperatives, through marketing, have been working for years to safeguard and protect natural spaces, create employment, guarantee quality products, improve energy efficiency, in short, guaranteeing that agriculture and livestock continue to be sustainable sectors and therefore comply with the 2030 Agenda, but often, little is communicated about everything that is done. In addition, precision agriculture is of the utmost importance, since with the arrival of new technologies (sensors, satellites, drones, GPS, etc.), the field and our crops are constantly changing, and it is necessary to analyze and understand all the variations and particularities of the environment in order to be able to provide the exact inputs for the optimization of the harvests. The application of technology in agriculture allows us to obtain the information necessary to understand variations in soil and crops , and this, together with the principles outlined in terms of sustainability, can become a competitive advantage, much needed in these times.

The second EU CAP Network workshop “National networks for innovation and knowledge sharing” will take place in Reims (France) on Wednesday 29 and Thursday 30 January 2025 . The CAP National Networks have the same objectives and tasks as the EU CAP Network, at national level, as defined in Article 126 of the CAP Regulation. Although the National Networks have gained experience with the AGRI-EIP Operational Groups (OGG) projects over the previous programming period, surveys and meetings have indicated that they would need annual capacity building events, support in peer learning and guidance to identify good practices. This would help them to carry out the tasks of the National Networks and use AKIS interventions more effectively, increasing innovation and knowledge exchange. In this context, the EU CAP Network focusing on Innovation, Knowledge Sharing and the Agricultural Innovation and Development Initiative (EIP-AGRI) invites CAP National Networks, AKIS Coordinating Bodies, Managing Authorities, Paying Agencies and Advisors to the second workshop “National Networks for Innovation and Knowledge Sharing” on 29-30 January 2025. The event will focus on how to support the CAP cross-cutting objective in daily practice and how to use the national networking tools and AKIS interventions available to do so . With more than 3,800 ongoing or completed projects across the EU, your project results have huge potential to be discovered. The workshop will take advantage of the unique opportunities offered by the EIP-AGRI to create synergies and stimulate knowledge exchange across the EU . The event will be structured based on the suggestions received from participants on common themes of interest for transnational collaboration. On the second day, a matchmaking exercise will be organised to connect participants around these key themes.
