Cultiva, the largest demonstration event for extensive crops in Spain

On May 8 , the town of Alcañiz , Teruel, will host a new edition of CULTIVA 2025 , the Winter Grain Transfer Conference , a landmark event on the national agricultural calendar. Predictive models to support decision-making in crop pest and disease control

Next Monday, April 29 , from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. , the webinar "Predictive models to support decision-making in pest and disease control in crops" will take place. This free online event will bring together leading experts in plant health and technologies applied to the agri-food sector. Organized by the Cajamar Experience Center , this digital event aims to demonstrate how the use of mathematical models and predictive tools can improve phytosanitary management on farms, helping to reduce the number of treatments, anticipate risks, and optimize available resources , in line with more sustainable and efficient agriculture. A program with industry leaders The event will be opened by Carlos Baixauli Soria , Director of the Cajamar Experience Center, who will also moderate the final panel discussion. The program includes three main presentations: 4:40 p.m. – Ángel Plata Sánchez , R&D Technician at Tragsa, will present how degree-day models can optimize insect pest management by adjusting treatments to the most effective times. 5:00 PM – Antonio Vicent Civera , Unit Head at IVIA, will discuss the use of epidemiological models for controlling fungal diseases in fruit trees, showing practical examples of their application in the field. 5:20 p.m. – Miguel Martínez Ramón , Digital Product Manager at Agrigenio Spain, will talk about Decision Support Systems (DSS) and their key role in present and future agriculture. Drone application of biostimulants in pistachio crops to increase productivity

The demonstration activity involves a real-life drone application of substances with biostimulant activity on pistachio crops in the province of Toledo. The optimal phenological stage of the crop for application will be determined by prior crop monitoring using data recorded by Sentinel-2 remote sensors in the main electromagnetic bands. According to previous experiments conducted by the UPV research team, the application is planned for the flowering and fruit set phases. Next, the active ingredients will be selected, and their effect on the plant will be related to its phenological state at the time of application. For the final application, the flight parameters (drift, speed, height, nozzle adjustment, etc.) will be determined to apply the exact dose of active ingredient and its concentration. Innovation and economic efficiency in the mechanization and production of EVOO

This conference presents the objectives and initial results of a pilot project to study the technical application of mechanized olive pruning in the main olive-producing areas of Catalonia. This project aims to determine its effectiveness in optimizing vegetative growth and production, comparing it with manual pruning at the agronomic, productive, and economic levels. The production results of an experimental trial with the three main olive oil production systems: intensive, high-density, and super-intensive are also presented.
