The event will allow participants to learn about the latest technologies in the control and automation of agricultural machinery for herbaceous and woody crops , as well as systems for managing inputs (fertilizer and phytosanitary products) tailored to the needs of each area of the land, in what is globally known as "Variable Dosing" (DV) , in addition to new technologies in harvesting, sensors installed in machines and robotics. EU Circular Talks It is an exchange project of the European Platform of Circular Economy Actors ( ECESP - European Circular Economy Stakeholder Platform). Its objective is to encourage interaction and debate on circular economy topics on the platform. Stakeholders initiate topics themselves. These can take various forms: online events—workshops, seminars, debates, or Q&A sessions. Discussions then develop directly through the platform's communication channels. #EUCircularTalks uses all communication channels to inform the community and foster debate on the circular economy. The results of each EU Circular Talk are summarized and published on the ECESP platform. The next event will be a webinar on "Achieving Effective Bio-Waste Management in Europe: Key Factors and Progress One Year After the EU Mandate for Separate Bio-Waste Collection." This webinar, organized by the European Circular Economy Stakeholder Platform, aims to assess the state of separate collection of municipal bio-waste in Europe and discuss the measures needed to drive a true revolution in bio-waste management on the continent. How can policies and economic instruments encourage higher collection rates, improved quality, and ultimately, greater return of organic matter and nutrients to our soils? The Fertiberia Chair of Agro-Environmental Studies will hold its 16th conference on April 10th under the theme "Healthy Soils for Productive and Climate-Resilient Agriculture." The event, which will take place at the ETSIAAB (Educational Institute of Agriculture and Fisheries) in Madrid, seeks to explore innovative strategies and technologies that improve agricultural productivity without compromising soil health or the sector's profitability. It will feature the participation of leading experts and an institutional address by Elena Busutil , Director General of Agricultural Production and Markets at the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Food . During the conference, key topics will be addressed, such as the role of carbon in agricultural soils , the importance of the microbiome for fertility , and the impact of microorganism-based fertilizers on human health. Additionally, specialists from institutions such as CEBAS-CSIC , the University of Lisbon , and the Ministry of Health will share their knowledge on biotechnology and soil regeneration. An innovative soil digitization project in Spain using artificial intelligence will also be presented. The event will conclude with a presentation by Augusto Arce , director of the Fertiberia Chair , and a cocktail reception to encourage the exchange of ideas among attendees. Moderated by Luis Montoto Rojo , this event will establish itself as a leading forum for discussing agricultural sustainability and soil conservation in the context of climate change. The Simbioliva Operational Group plans to hold an informative presentation on April 9 at the Orujera Interprovincial Conference in Fuente de Piedra. As part of a training program run by an educational institution in collaboration with the University of Malaga (UMA) , students from the NCEC (Saudi Arabia's National Center for Environmental Control) will be visiting the Simbioliva Operational Group project. The goal is to raise awareness of the Spanish model for valorizing alperujo (a type of olive oil), as well as the various R&D&I alternatives and initiatives applied to this byproduct. This project is also presented as a benchmark for innovation in the use of alperujo (a type of olive oil), serving as an inspiration for other agricultural sectors worldwide.

Cajamar launches the second edition of the 2024 Sustainability Indicators Report for the Agri-Food Sector , prepared by the CEIGRAM (Center for the Study of the Agricultural Sector) of the Polytechnic University of Madrid. This update consolidates a pioneering publication that analyzes the sector's sustainability from an economic, social, and environmental perspective, complementing the Spanish Agri-Food System Observatory . In this new edition, the main indicators have been revised and updated, incorporating new data to improve their usefulness. During the presentation session, the report's authors will share their findings and discuss the future of sustainability in the agri-food sector. REGISTRATION

The closing event of the Supra-autonomous Operative Group Rebo2Vino “Circular economy for the reuse of glass bottles in the wine sector: Analysis of impacts and feasibility, and design of digital tools” will take place on February 26 in Madrid, where the main results and conclusions drawn will be reviewed. The project ends in March 2025 and has lasted almost 29 months of execution, during which two pilot tests have been developed (in Catalonia and Jerez) and all the impact categories of the Life Cycle Analysis have been analysed to determine the environmental and economic viability of implementing a potential reuse model in the wine sector. In addition, the main barriers and critical points have been identified, and a series of tools have been developed that will be helpful for future implementation at a national level. The Spanish Wine Federation (FEV) has made a very positive assessment of this project, considered strategic for the sector at a national level, and which lays the foundations for continuing to advance and scale up the results at a European level. We would like to thank the General Directorate of Rural Development, Innovation and Agri-Food Training for supporting this Operational Group, whose financing through the EU Next Generation Funds has been key to the development of the project and achieving the expected results. The closing ceremony is scheduled for 1:00 p.m., followed by an aperitif during which the pilot wines will be displayed with the reusable bottle designed in the project.

In-person technical conference aimed at presenting innovative solutions to boost agricultural productivity.

This forum is an event that brings together experts in agricultural innovation to discuss new technologies, sustainable agricultural practices and advances in the field of biotechnology applied to agriculture.

During this session, the Recicland project will be presented , and theory will be taught on the environmental consequences of hazardous waste management and on the internal management of pesticide containers, broth residues, and expired or discontinued products on the farm, as well as on the management of this hazardous waste off-farm.

The VII AGROCISTUS Technical Conference will take place on December 4 in Fraga (Huesca)

The objective of the RENOWAGRO meetings is to present, on behalf of all the agents involved in the agri-food sector, the challenges and opportunities that this sector faces in the era of sustainability , and how the vision of the circular bioeconomy in the management of organic resources can allow for greater economic, environmental and social profitability for the sector and the economy in general. The event has become a benchmark space where best practices and the latest innovations that impact the sustainability of the sector are shared, not only from an environmental perspective, but also from an economic and social one.

CARINA is a four-year transnational Innovation Action (until October 2026), supported by the European Union under the Horizon Europe programme. The project focuses on new sustainable and diversified agricultural systems, including two new oilseed crops, carinata and camelina, capable of providing multiple low-iLUC feedstocks for the bio-based economy.

The Department of Agriculture, Livestock, Rural World and Environment of the Government of La Rioja organizes the Sustainable management and soil quality conference, within the framework of the European project " Phos4Cycle. Monitoring of phosphates in agricultural and livestock activities for the sustainable use of soil and water, of the Interreg Sudoe program ". The Phos4Cycle project aims to develop a common strategy and action plan for the management of phosphates associated with agricultural and livestock activity in rural areas. Among the strategies evaluated in the project is the application of biochar in different crops. The use of biochar has been increasing in recent years due to the environmental benefits attributed to it. This conference will discuss how the application of biochar affects soil quality and carbon dynamics, as well as experiences of its use in different crops. The Plant Health and Certification Service is the technical unit that carries out the functions of control and certification of seeds and nursery plants, the management of surveillance and control plans for plant pests and diseases, the marketing and use of phytosanitary products and their evaluation, and technical advice to the production sector on plant health and seed production.
