The Interempresas Group and Isagri are organizing the 2nd Technical Conference on Pig Farming , focusing on the application of artificial intelligence on farms . Following the success of the first edition, the event will be held on April 29 in Guijuelo (Salamanca) and will bring together experts and professionals from the sector. The objective is to analyze the impact of artificial intelligence on the management, health, and feeding of Iberian pigs. Key topics will be addressed, such as its integration with IoT and robotics, the role of innovation in sustainability, and case studies demonstrating its potential to improve farm efficiency and profitability . The PigStun* project aims to encourage EU pig slaughterhouses that use high concentrations of carbon dioxide to stun pigs to adopt more welfare-friendly systems by testing the technical specifications and feasibility of four promising alternatives. During this webinar, the following alternatives will be presented: argon reconditioning system, helium system, optimized CAS process, and improved electrical stunning system. A description of the system will be provided, along with the advantages and disadvantages of these alternatives and their impact on the economy, the environment, labor, and animal welfare. During the webinar there will be time for questions and discussion. PigStun is the beneficiary of a grant agreement signed with the European Health and Digital Executive Agency (HaDEA) under the Single Market Programme – Food Strand, aiming to improve pig welfare. The PigStun consortium is comprised of beneficiaries and associated partners from the Netherlands, Denmark, Germany, and Spain, including academic research partners, slaughterhouse equipment developers, and five pig slaughtering companies. Organized by the Royal Spanish Federation of Select Livestock Associations (RFEAGAS) as part of the FIGAN fair, a GO SMARTFARMRANI workshop will take place on March 27 in Hall 3: Precision Livestock Farming to Increase the Sustainability and Resilience of Extensive Farms with Native Breed Suckler Cows.

On March 26th, from 12:00 to 14:00, the International Fair for Animal Production (FIGAN) will host the presentation of the BIO4TRACE Operational Group , an innovative project aimed at traceability and sustainability in pork production. The event will feature an introduction to the project and presentations by the participating associations. A roundtable discussion will then be moderated by Guillermo Ramis of the University of Murcia , with the participation of representatives from the Celtic Pig Breeders Association, the Associated Breeders of the Chato Murciano Pig Breeders Association, and the Black Canary Pig Breeders Association. The discussion will address the challenges and opportunities of breeding and traceability of these native breeds. At the end of the day, attendees will be able to enjoy a tasting of products derived from these pork varieties, highlighting the quality and diversity of national production. Industry professionals, researchers, and representatives of livestock associations are expected to attend.

Under the title "From the farm to the cloud: technology at the service of sectoral challenges," the Spanish Association of Beef Cattle Producers (ASOPROVAC) has organized a technical workshop within the framework of the International Fair for Animal Production (FIGAN), at the Zaragoza Fair. Next Tuesday, March 25, at 11:00 a.m., the PROVACUNO stand at FIGAN (Hall 6, Stand CD 31-36) will host the presentation of the SECUESVAC Operational Group , an innovative project focused on optimizing carbon sequestration in agricultural soils associated with beef production in Spain. Javier López, director of PROVACUNO , the entity representing the project, will be in charge of explaining the objectives and progress of SECUESVAC, which seeks not only to contribute to climate neutrality by 2050, but also to preserve the rural environment where beef production takes place. The SECUESVAC Operational Group is 100% funded by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD) and the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, within the framework of the National Strategic Plan for the CAP (PEPAC) 2023-2027. The project's total investment amounts to €548,889.40, and the Directorate-General for Rural Development, Innovation and Agri-Food Training (DGDRIFA) is the managing authority for the aid. It is recommended to confirm attendance to facilitate the organization of the event.

The 17th edition of the International Fair for Animal Production ( FIGAN ) will take place from March 25 to 28, 2025 at the Feria de Zaragoza facilities. FIGAN aims to become the meeting point for the livestock sector in the Iberian Peninsula once again. The BIO4TRACE Operational Group , Biotechnology for traceability and genetic selection in minority Spanish pig breeds, is organizing a tasting of Porco Celta products at the Casa de Galicia in Madrid on March 17 at 7:00 p.m. The event will begin with a roundtable discussion featuring chefs who are working with products from minority native breeds.

This event will focus on the study of the current management of the Asturian and Galician milk production system, considering the joint analysis of the farm and the value chain, which will allow the selection of the best practices associated with the different types of farms. Cajamar , in collaboration with Interporc , has promoted and published an exhaustive and updated analysis of a modern and responsible livestock farming model that seeks not only to lead in terms of production volume , but also in quality and sustainability of its processes throughout the entire chain, and that strives to respond to the demands of consumers and society. This session will present the content of the publication , with special reference to the conclusions drawn from the work . In addition, one of the most significant chapters included in it will be discussed, namely the development of the circular economy in primary production as a whole.
