Abstract
NEIKER has developed varieties resistant to Tobamovirus in both the Gernika pepper and the Ibarra chili pepper. This problem will be addressed through the transfer of genetically resistant plant material. This material will be tested on farms historically affected by these viruses.
Description
This task force was established to address the serious problem that pepper farms in Gernika and chili pepper farms in Ibarra are experiencing with Tobamoviruses (viruses transmitted by seed and contact).
Objectives
Implement preventive cultural control strategies for viruses that improve the productivity of the pilot farms, first, and subsequently that of the rest of the horticultural farms, thereby improving the "Ibarra chili pepper" and "Gernika pepper" subsectors in Gipuzkoa and Bizkaia.
