The 3rd edition of the SMART VILLAGE Forum will open its doors between June 28 and July 3 2023, at the Delta hotel in the Jupiter resort, through a participatory event that will reflect the role of the authorities and the business environment in consolidating the long-term vision on rural communities. We invite you to participate in the Digital Transformation Marathon, held on the Black Sea coast, where we will address topics on building smart village communities in Romania, sustainable energy efficiency solutions, support for facilitating innovation in rural areas, educational and academic involvement, smart technologies and accessible sources of funding. The Forum aims to contribute to increasing the visibility of rural areas by involving high-level political guests from European institutions, mayors and deputy mayors of municipalities, presidents of county councils, councillors, directors, experts and representatives of the business sector. The conferences will be in physical format and will take place in the conference room of Delta Hotel in Jupiter. We will debate with specialists in European funds, public authorities and experts from the smart technology industry on topics such as rural development, green and digital transition, precision agriculture, energy, smart transport, public works, rural health, tourism etc. For 4 days, the Romanian coast will host the most important event for the transformation of smart villages. We will also organize initiations of the “Smart Village – Management of Smart Rural Infrastructures” course every day, where we will talk about interoperability, smart infrastructures and types of digital public services that can be offered. The Abanca Semana Verde de Galicia fair will take place at the Feira Internacional de Galicia ABANCA , the largest exhibition park in the northwest of the peninsula. The Ministry of Science and Innovation has published the 2023 call for the National Innovation and Design Awards . The total budget of the awards increases in this edition to 160,000 euros and the call includes, for the first time, the 'Young innovative talent' modality, aimed at people under 36 years of age. These awards are Spain's most important recognition in the fields of innovation and design and distinguish people and entities that have made innovation an indispensable element in the development of their professional strategy and business growth. Likewise, they distinguish professionals and companies that have contributed significantly to increasing the prestige of Spanish design and entities that, incorporating it into their business strategy, have demonstrated that design is a powerful lever of innovation and competitiveness. According to Order CIN/186/2023, of February 21, which establishes the regulatory bases for the granting of the National Innovation and Design Awards, natural persons with full capacity to act, who can be candidates, may be candidates. They have Spanish nationality or are residents in Spain and legal entities that have at least one permanent establishment in Spain, validly constituted. The following categories are included within the innovation awards: National Innovation Award in the 'Innovative Career' modality, aimed at people with a career of at least fifteen years in which innovation has been one of the relevant characteristics. The workshop ‘Innovative arable crop protection - using pesticides sustainably’ will take place in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, from Wednesday 19 to Friday 21 April 2023. The workshop will focus on exchanging knowledge and sharing innovative, inspirational practices that support farmers, advisors and other stakeholders to ensure greater uptake of non-chemical plant protection methods in arable crops by using economically and ecologically sustainable approaches. The overall aim of the workshop is to promote networking among Operational Groups (OGs) and other innovative projects and initiatives dealing with sustainable ways to reduce chemical pesticides in arable crops (cereals, oilseeds, legumes, potatoes, sugar beets).
