LAKTIS project mid-day event to present initial calculations and progress on the dairy sector's carbon footprint.
Description
Next Monday, November 10, 2025 , the conference "Follow up: presentation of first calculations and evolution of case studies" will be held at the CFEA Pedro Murias in Ribadeo (Lugo) , organized within the framework of the LAKTIS project , an initiative that seeks to quantify and reduce the carbon footprint in the Spanish dairy sector.
The meeting, which will be held in a hybrid format (in-person and online via Teams), will bring together technicians, researchers, livestock farmers, and organizations in the field of agri-food sustainability to analyze the project's initial results and discuss mitigation strategies tailored to real-life farms.
The day will begin at 10:30 a.m. with a welcome coffee , followed by a presentation of the LAKTIS project by the MEDRAR Innovation Office team, which will outline the context and objectives of the project: measuring the carbon footprint on dairy farms and proposing practical solutions to reduce emissions.
Between 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., a roundtable discussion will be held with the participation of experts from AGACA , the University of Santiago de Compostela , ODOS , Gregorio Salcedo and Solid Forest , who will present the first calculations obtained and discuss different mitigation strategies . The participating farmers will then carry out a brief strategy ranking exercise , before a break for a snack and networking (1:35 p.m.–2:30 p.m.).
In the afternoon, the dynamic will continue with a participatory session (2:30–3:30 p.m.) to prioritize the most effective and realistic measures, followed by the presentation of success stories (3:30–4:15 p.m.) by technicians from ENTOMO, Pentabiol and INNOGANDO , who will share examples of applied innovation in sustainability and emissions reduction.
The day will conclude with a visit to a CLUN livestock farm (4:15–6:30 p.m.), where participants will be able to learn about the practices implemented and the progress observed in environmental management.
With this interim session, the LAKTIS project continues its commitment to the dairy sector's climate transition , combining scientific rigor with the direct participation of farmers to achieve more sustainable and low-carbon production.
