The Renewable Gas Show consolidates itself as a reference in the energy transition and the circular bioeconomy
Description
The 5th Renewable Gas Fair and the 18th International Bioenergy Congress have concluded another edition in Valladolid with record attendance and a clear message: the biogas and biomethane sector is making steady progress in Spain.
Between October 1 and 2, the event brought together nearly 250 exhibiting companies and more than 4,000 professionals , representing a 15% increase over the previous year. Over two intense days, the halls and stands reflected the dynamism of a sector that optimistically faces its expansion and the challenge of consolidating the social acceptance of its projects.
Representatives of the organizing associations, AVEBIOM and AEBIG , agreed that biomethane is consolidating as a strategic lever for sustainability and the primary sector , capable of providing real solutions to the use of livestock and agricultural waste, to reducing emissions and to rural energy autonomy.
In Spain, there are already more than 200 biogas plants and 17 biomethane plants in operation , along with more than 270 projects under development , which shows accelerated growth since 2019. The technical debate at the congress insisted on the importance of conceiving these facilities not only as energy infrastructures, but also as agricultural, environmental and technological innovation projects , which require specialized training and long-term planning.
The participating public administrations emphasized the role of biomethane as a key driver of the energy transition and announced the implementation of support measures and incentives to foster its deployment. Communities such as Castile and León, Castile-La Mancha, Andalusia, and Catalonia presented their strategies for integrating this renewable gas into their energy policies.
The meeting reaffirmed Valladolid 's position as a leading city in the transition toward climate neutrality by 2030 , and the Renewable Gas Fair as an essential event for cooperation between industry, government, and the agricultural sector in promoting the circular bioeconomy .
