On October 1st , within the framework of the international fair Fruit Attraction 2025 , the PITAMED Operational Group will present the possibilities offered by pitaya as an emerging crop and its different applications in gastronomy and healthy eating.

The presentation will take place from 12:00 to 13:00 in the Factoría Chef space (Hall 7) of IFEMA Madrid, and will have a hybrid format, allowing the event to be followed both in person and online.

The event will feature speakers such as Vanesa Raya, a researcher at the Canary Islands Institute of Agricultural Research (ICIA), and Nicolás Juste , from the Production and Development Department of Anecoop S. Coop. They will demonstrate the different varieties and uses of pitaya to attendees. The aim is to bring this tropical fruit closer to European consumers, exploring both its organoleptic potential and its nutritional value.

A fruit with a future in the agri-food sector

The PITAMED Operational Group is working on the introduction, adaptation, and development of pitaya cultivation in Spain , with the goal of diversifying agricultural production, opening new market opportunities, and fostering more resilient agriculture.

This session at Fruit Attraction 2025 will be an opportunity for professionals, distributors, restaurateurs, and interested members of the public to discover firsthand the qualities of a crop with great potential in Spanish horticulture.

The event is free and open to all fairgoers, with a hybrid broadcast to facilitate remote participation.
