The Andanatura Foundation and the Federation of Forestry Associations of Castilla y León (FAFCYLE) are organizing an online information session next Thursday, August 28, 2025 , from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. to present the project "Dehesa del Futuro: connecting agents of change."

The free meeting is part of Activity 1 of the project , which is funded by the line of subsidies for training and information at a supra-regional level for the agri-food and forestry sector, within the framework of the Strategic Plan of the Common Agricultural Policy 2023-2027 (PEPAC) .

A model for the Dehesa of the future

The initiative aims to design and promote a Future Pasture Model (FPM) that will serve as a benchmark for moving toward sustainable, resilient, and profitable silvo-agro-pastoral systems. To this end, it plans to promote professional networks, create digital technical content, and develop communication tools to facilitate knowledge transfer among sector stakeholders.

The project includes participatory activities, both in person and online , in eight Spanish provinces: Córdoba, Seville, Huelva, Badajoz, Cáceres, Salamanca, Ávila, and Ciudad Real. Farmers, ranchers, forestry organizations, and other rural stakeholders will work together to develop innovative proposals for the future of the dehesas.

A commitment to collaboration

The "Dehesa of the Future: Connecting Agents of Change" project also seeks to create a stable network of people and organizations linked to this ecosystem, promoting the exchange of experiences and sharing best practices that contribute to improving the management of the dehesa as a productive and environmental system.

European and national funding

The initiative has a total budget of 325,726.86 euros , 43% of which is co-financed by the European Union (European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development – EAFRD) and 57% by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAPA) , through the call for subsidies for knowledge exchange services and training and information activities at a supra-regional level.
