The Andalusian Regional Government is promoting the modernization of the agricultural sector with aid totaling almost €175 million.
Description
The Andalusian Regional Government has allocated €174.9 million to help nearly 3,800 farmers and ranchers acquire new machinery. This amount represents a 75% increase over the initial €100 million budgeted in the 2014-2020 Rural Development Program (RDP), due to high demand from the sector.
These grants aim to support the modernization of Andalusian farms, improve production efficiency, reduce costs, and promote more sustainable, innovative, and competitive agriculture. Special attention was paid to the olive sector, which faces significant challenges, with €65.7 million, or 37.5% of the total, specifically allocated to it.
The grants cover up to 50% of eligible expenses, with the possibility of increasing them to 90% in special cases. The maximum limit is €150,000 in general and €120,000 for olive farms. These funds are co-financed by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD).
By province, 109.2 million euros were distributed among all provinces under the general agricultural regime, with Seville (almost 20 million) and Córdoba (21.5 million) receiving the largest allocation. Regarding olive groves, Jaén received the largest allocation, with nearly 38 million euros.
