DESCRIPTION:

This hydraulic modeling course with IBER is designed to provide students with the tools and knowledge necessary to conduct flood simulations caused by a potential collapse of a reservoir's containment dam and thus assess its potential consequences for the area. This will allow the reservoir to be classified according to its risk category. The IBER software, developed by the Center for Studies and Experimentation in Public Works (CEDEX) and the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC), is a powerful and versatile tool for simulating flows in open water, as well as in reservoir and dam systems.

This course represents a unique opportunity to specialize in hydraulic modeling, a key tool for water resource management and hydraulic infrastructure safety, with a practical and applied approach.

GOALS

Understand the basic principles of hydraulic modeling and the mapping required for it.

Familiarize yourself with and apply IBER software for hydraulic simulations for water raft classification.

Interpret hydraulic modeling results for use in technical reports.

Using QGIS (powerful free GIS software) to prepare the necessary cartography for simulations at IBER, as well as to visualize the results obtained.

METHODOLOGY

Online via videoconference.

It is necessary to attend 75% of the sessions.

Online monitoring is justified by connecting during the live course, so you must register with your first and last name to monitor attendance.
